 NATIONAL PROGRAM TAKES YOUNGSTERS FROM THE TEE TO THE GREEN WHG&CC in Williston, Fl. has been selected and has agreed to host a Hook A Kid on Golf green Level Training Program. Hook A Kid On Golf is a national youth golf program located in approximately 250 communities nationwide. "We are excited about the opportunity to host this program", said Jim Partington local Hook A Kid On Golf Site Coordinator. "Most youngsters have unlimited opportunities to play sports such as baseball, basketball and football but only a select few get the opportunity to learn about golf." The Green Level Training Program this year is a 4 wk.- 2 times a wk. (Tues. and Thurs.) program aimed at developing golf skills and rules and etiquette knowledge through practical, on-course training. Youngsters will be taught the basics of course management and learn how to apply it to their game. To be eligible for participation youngsters must be between the ages of 8 and 15 and have had a previous introduction to the game. This years program is currently in process with 12 youths. If you want to get excited about the program, join us at 5:30 p.m. any Tues. or Thurs. during May. |
What you get are some of the best greens in North Central Florida. They are large and roll perfectly. If you have nice greens, you can put up with any other small issues and will enjoy the round. This is one of the most interesting golf courses in this area. Bobby Peragine has been working at WHG&CC for 23 years, an Italian from Brooklyn who maintains the carts and works at the pro shop. Joanne Stewart has been the general manager for just as long, a sweet woman who would do anything for you. There are always smiling faces at our pro shop and snack bar.
